Many industrial processes exhibit complex dynamics and require numerical simulation and modeling to be understood and optimized. We respond to these needs by developing basic and applied research in four main directions: granular media (soils, concrete and composite materials, mineral and food grains like coffee, corn, coal, nickel, etc.), chemical processes (chemical reactors, chaos and stability of chemical reactions, non-equilibrium thermodynamics), electric/electronic systems (including switching systems) and industrial management (networks, production lines and processes). In this way, we contribute to a deeper understanding of these systems and to the optimization of goods and services of national and regional interest in a competitive and globalized world.
